Reblogged from This Week In Hell:
Indonesia government officials are installing hanging metal balls just above train height outside of Jakarta, in an attempt to combat “train surfing.” Indonesia, like many other countries in South and Southeast Asia, suffers from overcrowding on trains. Dozens of people are killed each year because they are forced to ride on the roof of a train to work, either because they can’t afford the train ticket, or there are simply too many people inside the car.
Dear Reader,
Our good friends at This Week In Hell have done it again. While it is unlikely that the transit system in Indonesia will bring about the end of the world, don't be surprised if similar measures are put into place on a subway near you. I for one am excited. It'll give me a chance to work on my parkour skills. Thanks This Week In Hell for answering the question "Should I rent a car while in Indonesia?"
